city of lakewood dog park, ohio:

Welcome to The Lakewood Dog Park website!

The Lakewood Dog park was created to give dog owners a place where their dogs would be welcome! It gives the dogs an area where they can exercise and socialize with other dogs. Dogs can run and play off leash in a large fenced area.

Location, Parking & hours:

The Lakewood Dog Park is located, in Northern Ohio, on Valley Parkway, near Detroit Avenue, adjacent to the Lakewood Water Treatment Plant. Parking is available behind the dog park, at the Water Treatment Plant, daily, during normal operating hours, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. If available parking spots are full, additional parking is available across the street at the Marina. Parking is PROHIBITED in the Plant driveway and on Valley Parkway, and violators will be towed. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Amenities:

The Dog Park features a spacious 2/3rd acre fenced lot bordering the Metroparks. It has a gravel surface and five majestic trees that provide shade in the summer. There are two double gated entrances, located on either end of the park, for dog safety. A water fountain is provided with a human-sized spout and a fountain, with a stainless steel bucket liner, at the right height for pups (though water is turned off during the winter season, from mid-October until May). There are 5 Dog Waste Bag stations positioned around the park and there are two pooper scooper rake/pans located near each double gated entrance. There is ample seating with 19 benches located through out the park. There is also a large information kiosk placed west of the entrance gate near the street, please check it when you visit for updates and information regarding the dog park and local events. There are now also 4 Hand Sanitizers to be found around the park.

SMALL DOGS ONLY PLAY AREA!

As of April 9th, 2006, we have a small dogs play area for dogs 20 pounds and under. It is situated inside the park not far from the double gated entrance. A fence and gate separate it from the rest of the dog park. The Small Dogs Only Play Area has it's own water bowl, toy basket, benches and shade tree. Now your small dog has a place of it's own where he/she won't feel so overwhelmed. To see photos of opening day click here.
